Monty Python
and the
Holy Grail

Screening at Rio Cinema from June 10–24 2016

Genres: Comedy / Adventure / Fantasy

History is turned on its comic head when, in 10th century England, King Arthur and his gallant knights travel the countryside on a low-budget quest set by God himself: to find the Holy Grail.

After separations and series of individual adventures, the knights are reunited but must face a fearsome wizard Tim, killer rabbits, and lessons in the use of holy hand grenades. Their quest comes to an end, after encountering many more silly obstacles—just as you would expect from a Monty Python movie—on an unregal and rather embarrassing note.

With their second feature film, the Pythons not only redefined the limits of narrative structure (basically by ignoring them), but also took unconventional styles of filming and applied them to comedy.
