of course you are free to do what you like with the profile page ~ writing your own HTML will be even better ;)

The template is available to give you starting point, a helping hand ~ you’re free to use it if you wish, as well as ignore it and do your own entirely.

Naomi,
your photo background is a really nice shot but I am not sure why you would want to use this to promote your skills. I think you would be better off showing some of the design work you’ve done, or a more abstract image which fits you ~ rather than a uni related piece.

I like what you have written in general but there are a few little points:
Colour – I don’t think your colour choice is ideal – your name seems to dissolve into the background and on bad monitors, I reckon people won’t be able to read it at all. The text itself does clash with the background image in places, making the individual word harder to read. Also not too sure about your font choices.

There are a few words you use which don’t quite make sense in context, I can see what you are trying to say – but the wording is not quite right.
“… my typography skills are developing and improving vividly…” ~ the word vividly does not work in this context.
“I enjoy the momentarily image that a camera creates…” ~ momentarily should be momentary.
“an image and text can say a thousand words” ~ this sounds odd as the original saying only refers to images and not words.
“how the deadlines are maintained.” ~ a good point to mention but this could be worded better, deadlines are usually kept or met but not maintained.
The very last sentence also sounds a little odd – not quite sure what you mean by “to do this“…

Gemma,
really like your background image – looks great. I’m not sure about the colours and typesetting though.

The colours might work better if tied into the colours used within your background image (see quick mockup screenshot). The soft translucent purple combined with the text colour does make the text quite hard to read. Not quite sure about the text size for your bio, I think you need to find a rhythm between the main elements’ text sizes.

Also – for the text itself, I would recommend structuring it to be presented in small paragraphs. Online reading is a lot of skimming, so delivery in chunks of text rather than long passages usually works best.
The text itself is nice but a little vague in places, perhaps? – “I’d say my focal points tend to lay with…” ~ why not make this more definite? Same would go for “relevant work placements“. Can you see what I mean?
