Hi ,

My friends!

Here is Caring for Caregivers —— a space for caregivers of Alzheimer’s patients.

By the time you get to this site, you may have already reviewed a lot of information about Alzheimer’s, consulted with many nursing homes and care facilities. You may not know what the future will be like or have already experienced despair several times.

I first became aware of the disease when my godmother’s mother had Alzheimer’s disease. My godmother’s life was turned upside down when she became a full-time caregiver for her mother. Given that I have seen first-hand the personal experiences of those around me, and know that caring for a mum or dad with Alzheimer’s can be challenging. It takes a toll on you physically, mentally, emotionally and financially.

There is a line in Shakespeare’s play Julius Caesar that said, “The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves, that we are underlings”. But my godmother said to me that Alzheimer’s is “the fault in our stars”. We can’t control it or change it; we can only witness our loved ones get worse and worse.

The reason why I decided to create this little website was because of my godmother. I hope that more people experiencing “The fault in your stars” can be more positive towards life. Don’t forget to take care of yourself while looking after the ones you love. Even if the stars are wrong, you can still rely on yourself to create a little happiness every day.

We hope that together we can face “The fault in our stars” and cherish moments like these.
