Story

This teen movie classic from 1999 is a modern-day adaptation of Shakespeare's 'The Taming of the Shrew', set in an imaginary high school, Padua High. It's love at first sight for new kid Cameron when he encounters popular girl Bianca, but he can't ask her out due to the strict 'no dating' rule laid down by Bianca's disillusioned gynecologist father. In fact, Bianca would be allowed to date... if her older sister, the wild and headstrong Kat does too. Problem is, Kat isn't interested in anyone, and her reputation ensures nobody is interested in her either.

With the aid of his friend Michael, Cameron hatches a plan to pay the only guy they can persuade, the illustrious Patrick, to date Kat so that Cameron can go out with Bianca. Of course, things don't go quite as planned, especially because Bianca is more interested in pretty boy Joey than in Cameron, and Kat is proving a tough challenge even for bad boy Patrick.

With its attractive leads, an excellent supporting cast, fresh dialogue, outstanding soundtrack and subtle nods to the original play dotted throughout, this is an enjoyable film not just for teens but for anyone young at heart.
